Starstruck

"This is retarded, man. This is a joke is what I think it is. No, it's not even a joke. It's just cruel and unusual. I get up at an ungodly hour for this stupid parade scene, I'm told to just stand here, six hours pass in this muggy weather, and for what? To get lost in a crowd of a thousand other extras as we stare at bagpiper after bagpiper over and over and over? The least they could do is give us a little booze. These sandwiches are soggy, and I am completely bored out of my mind."

"Haha! Welcome to Hollywood."

"Yeah, Hollywood. Hollywood Schmollywood. Have you seen a single famous person on set at all today? I haven't. Not even Nolan. And that guy on the stage earlier? That wasn't even Sirius Black. That was his stunt double."

"Sirius who?"

"Dude, come on. The Prisoner of Azkaban? You know, Gary Oldman. He's in this movie. What kind of extra are you?"

"I'm not an extra. I'm actually in the movie. I'm Eric Roberts."

Never heard of him, but that's pretty cool you met an actor.

Tell us more!

Even if you didn't meet any of the cast (don't know who the guy your talking about is) well what does it matter? You were a part of history. You were a movie extra-no one gets to do this kind of stuff.

That's what life as an extra is, standing around for hours. My sister who lives in SoCal is a non-union extra... So she gets to be in quite a few movies a year, doing repetitive things like rollerblading, or walking by. She usually brings a book or ipod there because the hours are long. But it's all worth it when you get to see all those actors!

Hey Tom, I started off being pretty crabby because of the lack of sleep I'd gotten the night before, but it ended up being a great experience -- not just in me being in close proximity to celebrities, but in all the stuff I learned and people I met. I now have an incredible amount of respect for what goes into movie production.

I probably wouldn't do this same exact gig again in the future, however, because one of the things I've learned about myself is that I am utterly incapable of standing in one spot for hours on end. There goes my career as a nude model for life drawing classes!

Nice. Almost as cool as when you met Will Smith a couple summers ago.

I think its a little bit cooler than Will Smith, he got to see Christian Bale throw a temper tantrum at the director and he got to be a part of a Batman movie that will most likely be waaay cooler than Hitch.
