Tough year for the Yankees

COWORKER: (panting from running down the hallway) Pete, you won't believe this. You know that plane that crashed into that building in New York that we were talking about earlier? It wasn't terrorism. Fox News is saying that it was Corey Lidle's plane.

ME: From the Yankees?

COWORKER: Yes.

ME: Wow. Is he dead?

COWORKER: They think so. It's not confirmed yet.

ME: That's just... horrible.

COWORKER: I know.

ME: I really wanted the Cubs to sign him as a free agent. Damn it! He would have been a great fifth starter. Now we have to get Zito and Schmidt, or else it's going to be yet another season of misery for us!

COWORKER: Pete... listen to yourself. You must be crazy.

ME: (looking down) Yeah... I know...

COWORKER: ...Lidle had an ERA of about 4.8. That's twice the price of gas for cryin' out loud!

More and more I imagine you as some kind of heartless, lovable teddy bear in a baseball jersey. More. And. More.

You are cold, and Zito will never be a Cub unless you overpay.

That's cruel... yet hilarious. At least you have your priorities straight.
