Everything I ever wrote her was a love letter in disguise

There was a girl before, kind of. One time we went out drinking together, and at the end of the night when we were stumbling home, trying not to throw up by spitting the taste of alcohol out of our mouths, I grabbed her hand because we were jaywalking across a busy street. It was a little chilly outside, and cars everywhere were honking at us, so we walked briskly and laughed a little bit. And while guiding her as we weaved between cars, I gave her hand a slight squeeze to tell her that I loved her. I waited to see if she would respond by squeezing my hand back, but soon it was too late. We had already reached the other side of the street, and I never got my answer. But I was okay with that, really. I promise.

She’s not around anymore, and even if she were around, I wouldn't be able to hold her hand. But heck, if she ever wanted to tell me she understood, the least she could do is slightly squeeze my shoulder.

oh come on, I come to your site for humor,....not to cry my eyes off. Effective tearjerker, nonetheless.

Now I know why a guy like you has managed to go without having a girlfriend for the past what, 4 years? You are a hopeless romantic.

Lynn, Bret Easton Ellis would have used more run-on sentences with nihilistic undertones, so I dunno about "perfect".

Julie, I tried having a girlfriend a few months back, but that relationship only lasted 2 days. Go figure!
