Dalat

Day 5 takes me to Dalat, a small picturesque city northeast of Saigon. I’m loving it here.

This place is the Anti-Saigon. Saigon is the epitome of hot and sticky and urban decay, while Dalat is cool and quiet and traditional.

The funny thing about Dalatians (I just made that term up... should I copyright it?) is that they actually think it’s COLD here. I’ll walk outside my hotel and see people on the street wearing heavy winter coats with scarves and mittens and I’m just like, DUDE, IT’S FUCKING 65 DEGREES OUTSIDE. Dalat isn’t that much farther north than Saigon but it’s a lot cooler because of the elevation and mountain breezes around here.

Well, I’ve gotta jet. Tomorrow the family is heading west to Nha Trang, where I hear they have great beaches. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to blog from there, although I think I’d rather spend my valuable Vietnam time at the beach getting tan and scoping chicks.

As they say here in Dalat: ciao.
