Movin'
I spent the weekend doing two things: 1) moving into my new apartment in Champaign, IL, and 2) staring at the wall.
From the very early looks of things, Champaign seems to be an upgrade over my last college stop in Dekalb, IL. U of I is obviously a little bigger than NIU in terms of enrollment and budget, but I think the biggest difference between the two campuses is there are more yuppies here. This is definitely more to my liking. Don't get me wrong, I love Dekalb's straw chewing, overall-wearing hicks as much as anyone else does, but after a while you just crave having pretentious conversations with rich white kids at coffee shops that play nothing but indie music or Coldplay.
What never changes, however, are what cheap college-town apartments smell like: stale old socks. With a little bit of curry on top.
The reason I spent a good portion of the weekend staring at the wall is because I'm currently waiting on getting my cable TV and internet installed. Now I know why prison inmates always hang themselves or why my old pet hamster always tried to escape from its cage. You can thank the internet access at U of I's computer labs for preventing me from losing my mind and going streaking through the quad just so I could fill the void. I'm still trying to figure out how the hell people in the olden days could even live without IMing someone.
Once I get TV and internet, life should get a little less boring for me, but that still won't change the fact that no matter how loud I'll blast the music in my apartment, it will still be too quiet in here. After having roommates all through undergrad, I've now decided to go solo. I'm kind of worried about being lonely, but when you consider how all my past roommates were -- my first roommate was too homosexual, my second roommate drank too much breast milk, my third was literally too big, and my last group of roommates put poo on my toothbrush -- I'll take lonely any day of the week.

Have fun at u of i! Don't worry it will get better when you become fully moved-in.
I totally know what you're going through, but it's still fun :) i'm sure i'll talk to you soon!
When I get back to Champaign, I'll come check on you to make sure there are no ropes lying around.

second roommate... dahveed? ....i'll never look at him the same
Well, it wasn't breast milk per say... it was his whey protein drink. But it sure looked like breast milk to me.
Good man. Yeah, no Net in the comfortability of your own apartment...gotta hate that.
