Katrina: Apology

You know what people, I'm a pretentious idiot. My last post was a poorly written, unfocused piece of blog shit. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote all that. I'm really sorry for my insensitivity.

I've been intently watching news coverage on TV and on the internet about the Hurricane Katrina disaster for the last couple of hours and I now know that I had no right to make fun of or question Bush at a time like this. For whatever reason, I decided to act like an slimy, opportunistic Democrat. I may be slimy, I may be opportunistic, I may be many things... but I'm no Democrat. Sometimes, as frustrated as we get, we've just got to stand by and trust our leader.

It's simply a disaster area down there. Worse than I thought it would be. Thousands may have died.

Here's what you can do to help: visit the Red Cross. And donate.

I like how when a natural disaster strikes the US no other country reaches out a helping hand. Not one. But, if somewhere else across the world something disasterous happens, like a tsunami, we're ridiculed for not helping enough, even though we're donating million upon millions.

Tom, that's simply incorrect. The reason we give is because we are able. I'd bet every country that we give to has people who dream of being in a position to do as the US does. The problem is they aren't, so they can't.

Pete, standing by leaders for the sake of them being leaders is folly. When Bush can give me reason to support him, I'll gladly do so. For example, I wasn't a Giuliani fan prior to 9/11. But what he said and did proved to be leadership, therefore I supported him. Bush put his arm around a fireman and gave rhetoric. I didn't support him.

Actually in the special that aired on ABC tonight it was stated that Russia, two other countries I can't recall at the moment and even France donated. I'm glad France supported us considering that the Americans were upset with them a few years back I believe because of the war. May I also add that I pray for all of those people affected and their family and friends that are worried about them be it in the states that were affected or in other states still waiting for word. I have family in Florida and it was horrible waiting for the phone lines to be up again worring about them and I was unable to do anything but, wait for the lines to come back. There weren't even any cell singles for a while out there and some where still without power there on Sunday.

Even Chavez from Venezuela is offering aide, and this is after a call for his assasination was made by Pat Robertson last week.

I know what you're saying. It's hard to do the right thing and back the president when he's such a dipshit.

Indeed he is our leader, but must we blindly support everything he does? NO! Sorry but I'm not a sheep, just following what I have to do, and not having my own views, which may be different than our 'leader'.

Karla is right, he is a total dipshit, and it took us to re-elect him to realize this?

But yea, I joined the crowd, I posted my views: http://photofill.com/blog/archives/2005/09/katrina.html
