I ain't singin' the Cubbie blues yet!
Tim of Engineered Blue, along with a couple of his buddies and I went to a Cubs game tonight, boldly wearing our Cubs playoff hopes on our sleeves. It's too bad Chipper Jones blew his snot on our sleeves twice tonight with two 2-run jacks, but hey, "wait till next year," right?
On the bright side, I won something: a Greg Maddux Limited Edition "300 Wins" baseball glove!

The awesome part about the whole thing is not just the fact that I now own a limited edition glove of The Greatest Control Pitcher of All Time, but that I ACTUALLY WON SOMETHING! I never win anything. I'm the kind of guy that will be one spot short of getting a Bingo in four different places at once and then some old fart will yell out "BINGO!" and ruin the whole thing for me. Every person in Wrigley Field was given a scratch-n-win card at the gate before entering, and if it weren't for Tim reminding me to try my card out, I would have totally forgotten.
Being the math geek I am, I did some calculating. There were 100 of these limited edition gloves in total (I'll be giving Ebay a visit pretty soon). At a recorded attendance of 38,767 people, that means that 0.258% -- less than a half of a percent -- of all the people in Wrigley were winners. That's a little less than 1 in 388 people. Hee hee honk, those are INCREDIBLE odds!
Which makes me believe, now, that the Cubs will make the playoffs and win the World Series, because if the unluckiest dude on the planet can win a rare collectible item, why can't the Lovable Losers march their way towards late October? In other words, I'm not saying "WTNY" until the fat lady sings.
Here are more pictures from tonight's game:

Strange redundancy on that sign there.
awesome
I just looked your glove up on Ebay and right now it is going for $250...you should sell it.
I've got a Spider-man #1 platinum edition comic book that is worth about $300, but I would say that this Greg Maddux glove is currently my most prized possession. I'll think about selling it after I've showed it off to all of my friends.
Pete, I saw Santana vs Garcia last night at the Metrodome. 4 hits total, the starters pitched everything but the top of the 9th. Great game, one of the best I've been to.
Santana and his crazy changeup. Gotta love it. But, poor White Sox fans.
