My New York Summer
Never have I ever grown so attached to a place in such a short amount of time.
I spent today packing up all my stuff and cleaning my hotel room to respectibility.
My flight’s at 6:30 AM, so I have to leave the hotel for the airport around 4 AM, which means I’m not going out, which means I’m not sleeping.
I spent most of the night hanging out and talking to the front desk guy, Rodney, trying not to think too much about the real world I’m returning to.
And that’s definitely true; I’m returning to the real world. The place I’ve been living in now, my lifestyle and everything, it’s all been a long fantasy world. Sleeping in every day and meeting celebrities every week is not what you usually do, and I say this with pride.
I’m gonna miss this place. The stuffy air of my hotel room. The pizza. The tap water. The weird sewage smell I always encountered. Catriona. Tabitha. Keesha. Cole. Columbia University. ESPN Zone. The 1/9 subway. The MetroCard. The Mid-Manhattan Library. My best friends coming up to visit me. David Letterman. Will Smith. Bill Clinton. Making conversation with complete strangers. Homeless people and the United Negro Pizza fund. Times Square. The whole entire skyline. The grid. Manhattan Island.
New York, the greatest city in the world.
What a summer! Nothing will ever top this!
